This is how much you pay Scorpion per month. Premiums can be paid through stop order, debit order, at an easy-pay outlet, at the post office, or at any of our full-service branches.
Benefits and cover - What you get when you join Scorpion
From the moment your details are captured onto our system, our team of legal advisors can give you or your family paralegal advice and assistance on any legal matter through our 24/7 Legal Contact Centre, or through a face-to-face consultation at one of our branches.
Should you or your family need legal representation in court proceedings, Scorpion will provide you with a panel attorney. For cover in court proceedings, there is a one-month waiting period and a ‘per annum’ and ‘per case’ limit applicable (please refer to ‘Limitations’ below).
This is a lump sum payout to the family if the main member passes away from an accidental death. From the moment you join, you are immediately covered for an accidental death.
This is cover for job or work-related problems, for example: unfair labour practices, unfair dismissals, unfair retrenchments, unpaid wages, unfair demotion, discrimination, disputes regarding pension payouts, unfair restraint of trade agreements, discrimination in the workplace, etc.
This is when there is a dispute between two or more individuals, for example: personal injuries from a car accident or at work, damage to your property (car, house or personal items), disputes with neighbours, breach of contract, unfairly rejected insurance claims, the buying of defective goods and other consumer disputes, etc.
We cover everything from petty to major offences, but we will not cover offences where you have been convicted of a similar
offence in the past 4-6 years (depending on the type of offence). You are not covered for major offences if you have claimed
at any time in the past.
We provide representation at administrative bodies where your rights could be affected. For example, if your child faces disciplinary action at school/university or when an administrative body enquires into your capacity to remain a member.
Our specialist departments offer specialised assistance on specific case types that our members require assistance with frequently.
Our Tax Help Desk can assist you by submitting your tax returns, checking your SARS tax status, enquiring with SARS on your behalf on your account, assessing whether SARS is billing you correctly, assessing whether your employer is deducting tax correctly, evaluating whether SARS has garnisheed your bank account or salary and the reason for it, and reviewing your previous tax submissions to assess whether they were submitted correctly.
We have legal advisors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide you with telephonic paralegal advice and assistance.
If you are retrenched or injured and unable to pay your premiums as a result, Scorpion will cover your premium for up to 12 months.

Add a parent/
Parents and parents-in-law can be included as dependants under this policy for an additional premium. The premium will apply per parent/parent-in-law, and parents under the age of 60 will not qualify. Please call us on 0861 333 333 for more information.
We will give you a 30-day trial period. If you are not entirely satisfied with the cover provided, we will refund you every cent that you have paid. You will have 30 days from date of receipt of your legal policy to cancel. Cancellation must be done in writing. The policy cancellation procedures are fully explained in the policy document.

Exclusions refer to legal matters that we will not cover and these vary from policy to policy. It is important that you read your policy document to know which exclusions apply to your policy. For example, to keep our premiums affordable, we cannot cover those matters that started before joining Scorpion, matrimonial related matters and businesses. Our Legal advisors will however, always attempt to assist you as best they can with advice, letter writing or negotiating with third parties.
