The Labour Relations Act and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act protects your rights in the workplace. From unfair labour practice, to unfair dismissal or discrimination, your labour rights are protected!
Under these laws you have the right to:
- Not be discriminated against based on association, race, sexuality, culture, etc.
- Work in a safe environment and if you feel that your working environment is unsafe, you have the right to speak out about this.
- Paid annual leave, as well as sick leave and family responsibility leave.
- Bring your grievances to the attention of management if you feel unhappy in your work due to unfairness or injustice.
(Please note: This is only general advice and should not be relied on solely. The law is complicated and there are many influencing factors that can change the above).
