Branches are open again
During this alert level 3, we would like to let our members know that all of our branches are open for legal consultations again. If you would like to come in, you must call the branch you'd like to visit first or send an email to info@scorpion.biz to book an appointment slot. If you don't know the branch's telephone number, you can call us on 0861 333 333 or visit the Contact Us page on our website. Strict Covid19 protocols will apply.
We are also still operating online. Our Call Centre is there for you – you can call us to talk, or for paralegal advice and queries as members.
- Call us on 0861 333 333.
- Talk to us on LiveChat (using the blue chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen)
- Send us a DM on Facebook
We’ve also been covering a range of legal issues related to Covid19 our Facebook page, so please like and follow our Facebook page if you have not already done so – Scorpion Legal Protection.
We are here to protect your rights
Although we now live in extraordinary times, and we are facing a situation where many of our rights and freedoms are restricted by necessary emergency legislation and rules, all of us still retain the rights and obligations afforded us by society and the Constitution.
Please be assured that even though we do support the actions being taken by government, you still remain legally protected by Scorpion for any unlawful infringement of your legal rights by third parties – whether it is government, your neighbour or your employer.
What Scorpion is doing to help
You, our valued members, are important to us, and we want you to know the ways that we're helping out during the national state of disaster and beyond.
- Scorpion has donated R1 million to the Solidarity Fund. The Solidarity Fund is dedicated to preventing and detecting COVID-19 as well as giving care and support to all South Africans.
- Our directors have also personally pledged 30% of their salaries for the next 3 months to the Cradle of Hope, an organisation focused on assisting women and children in desperate need.
- We've implemented a payment relief scheme for qualifying members who have been retrenched or laid off temporarily or self-employed and not able to earn any income because of COVID19.
- Scorpion members have a retrenchment premium waiver benefit as part of their policy. If you are retrenched and unable to pay your premiums as a result, Scorpion will cover your premium for up to 12 months from the month of retrenchment.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and please look after each other.
